Yokka Wants a Tattoo by Emiel Steenhuizen - Children’s Storybook (EN/NL)
Made for kids (and the adults reading with them): Yokka Wants a Tattoo is a heartfelt story about love, memory, and noticing the beauty all around us—told with striking Indian-ink illustrations by tattoo artist Emiel Steenhuizen.
This is Yokka and her bird Zeppy. After Zeppy dies, big-hearted Yokka wants to remember her friend in the coolest way she knows how: by getting a tattoo. She can’t get one quite yet—but what follows is a warm, funny, and moving journey that turns grief into curiosity, care, and remembrance.
Emiel’s illustrations are created with analog methods and traditional materials (Indian ink), shaped by many years of tattooing. The result is a picture book that feels gentle and human—while still carrying a real “tattoo feel” in line, contrast, and character.
