Tattoo The Gospel – Book by Johnny 2/3rds | Classic & Collector

Tattoo the Gospel traces the roots of traditional tattoo imagery back to where it began.

Long before tattoo flash sheets existed, the symbols that define classic tattooing—crosses, sacred hearts, angels, and martyr figures—were already present in stained glass, oil paintings, and devotional art. These images traveled through centuries, into sailor tattoos, military markings, and eventually the bold visual language of traditional tattooing.

Over seven years, Johnny 2/3rds painted all 66 books of the Bible using the structure and clarity of classic tattoo flash. Each painting is accompanied by concise written text: first offering a clear synopsis of the biblical book, then explaining the meaning of the imagery, colors, and how each work connects to the larger story.

Grounded in careful research and trusted theological sources, the book is both visual and educational—revealing how tattooing has always carried older stories within it, and why those symbols still resonate today.

Classic Edition

The Classic Edition is the full book, presenting Johnny’s complete series of paintings alongside carefully written explanations of the biblical stories and symbolism. This edition showcases the power of his art and storytelling in book form, making it accessible to a wide audience—tattoo enthusiasts, art lovers, and anyone interested in faith-inspired visual storytelling.

Collector’s Edition

For collectors and dedicated fans, the Collector’s Edition is limited to just 108 copies. It includes the Classic Edition plus the complete set of 66 illustrations printed as loose A3 sheets, perfect for framing.

The bundle is secured with a folded cross-wrap band, a design feature that subtly nods to the religious themes of the project while creating an elegant presentation. Each copy is individually numbered, making it a unique collector’s item.
