This is Yokka and her bird Zeppy...
After the death of her beloved pet bird Zeppy, big-hearted Yokka wants to remember her friend in the coolest way she knows how: by getting a tattoo! But even though she can’t get one quite yet, she’s in for a fun-packed voyage of discovery.
Kids young and old will be charmed and delighted by this original tale about love, memory, and appreciating the beauty all around us. Its funny and moving story is beautifully complemented by Emiel Steenhuizen’s striking Indian-ink illustrations – which draw inspiration from his many years of tattooing experience.
“I worked hard to give the images a genuine “tattoo feel”, using only analog methods and traditional materials like Indian ink,” says Emiel. “Ever since I became a father, I’ve wanted to write a story that conveys my love of tattooing to my daughter, and I’m so excited to be able to share it with everyone.”
