Jeroen Franken
Before endeavouring on my tattooing career, I went to study tattoos in its natural habitat in Borneo back ik 1995. Having written a book on the matter I then apprenticed professionally at Hanky Panky Tattoo in Amsterdam in 1997, learning tremendously from Michel Thieme. After my apprenticeship I ‘set sail’ to round the world three times.
It was but a mere 5000 year old tattooed mummie discovered on the boundaries of Switzerland and Italy, that made me realise that tattoos had been omnipresent. Likewise with all cultures, tattooing has developed over generations into what we tattoo today. Some of us call upon our ancestors to start our voyage into being tattooed, by means of dreams, chanting, being a sailor or traveller, or being the next in line.
These days you can find me in our private studio Seven Seas Atelier that I co-own with my wife Kim-Anh. We are based in Eindhoven, the Netherlands.
