Joel Ang
Having been born in Singapore, I’ve grown up with a great appreciation for both Eastern and Western cultures. The tattoos and paintings that I do are heavily influenced by many Chinese and Japanese artists of the past.
I am also profoundly shaped by the works of contemporary tattoo artists Filip Leu, Mick and Luke Atkinson.
Of the artwork that I create, I avoid simply painting tattoos; rather, it is for me a way to interpret nature in the style of the old masters, and to translate that into the spirit of modern Japanese tattooing.
